Wasabi's Justifications for Douchebaggerie
(And that's not a real word I know, but darn if it doesn't sound good for the occasion)
Reason #1: Misplaced anger. One can understand Shinn's pain for being emotionally tortured over the loss
of his parents and little sister, but misplacing the blame on ORB is not the thing to do. ORB did not indirectly kill
his family either by standing up to their ordeals.
Reason #2: A follow up of Reason #1; misplaced anger at Cagalli. Cagalli has done nothing wrong to
Shinn, however, he feels the need to yell at her about virtues and ideals any chance he gets. He constantly tells her
that she doesn't understand anything, even though he doesn't tell her what it is that she does not understand. On top
of that, Shinn never realizes that he is not the only one who lost family at the Battle of ORB, Cagalli lost her father as
well.
Reason #3: Assuming he is the only one who has gone through tragedy. Shinn does not seem to realize
that he is not the only person who has lost something in this war. Athrun has lost his mother in the bombing of Junius
7, his friend Nicol, has had to fight and almost kill his best friend and whose own father was just a psychotic SoB.
Shinn needs to get his head out of his own depressive angst and see he's not the only one who has lost loved ones.
Reason #4: Attitude. Shinn really just seems to have a bad attitude with anyone who is a superior
officer. While explaining how to get past the Rouengurin (I spelled this using the katakana), Shinn blurted out
in the middle of the mission briefing that all they had to do was destroy the big cannon and everything. Once Athrun
told Shinn that he would be the one doing the mission, however, Shinn didn't want to do it at all. If you're cocky enough
to know what you need to do and then simply refuse to do it, what sort of person are you? (aside from a punk who needs a punch
in the mouth)
Reason #5: Severely skewed sense of morals. Whenever Kira Yamato took down an enemy mobile suit in
the first series, he never was very happy about it. When he killed Nicol, Kira was in tears when the crew cheered for
him. Shinn is different in this matter. Anytime Shinn gets a kill, he's geniuinely happy with it such as when
he destroyed Freedom. I was glad Athrun punched him right in the face, because he needed one.
Reason #6: Oops, you fucked up! When Shinn takes Stellar away from the
Minerva's medical
facilities, you can understand why. He truly wanted to save tellar's life and so he gave her back to the enemy.
However, he was willing to trust a man in a black mask when he was told that Stellar would never fight again. Now I
don't know about you, but if I met someone who looked like this:
I wouldn't trust him with my pencil let alone a girl I deeply cared for. Because of Shinn's "rescue", Stellar
was placed into the monstrously destructive
Destroy suit and levelled no less than three Eastern European cities.
Nice going there Shinn, real nice.
I'll post more as they come to me, but for now, these are my reasons. If you'd like to send in your reasons, email
